Your responsibilities
LEAD SITE COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Take overall lead for execution site commercial matters in common law jurisdictions. Define and develop contract administration strategies, procedures, documentation. Maintain standard documents and work processes in accordance with current law and practise.
- Functional management of site commercial and quantity surveyors, including resourcing and recruitment.
- Create and lead a unified site commercial organisation to enable structured and common working and improvements equally across all sites.
- Guide and monitor commercial site personnel, oversee and balance allocation of tasks across sites.
- Primary point for site contract support, and on-site commercial aspects.
- Supports Project Director and Contract Manager Execution in client related commercial issues and alerts them in relation to site issues that might have an impact on the contract with the client
- Proactively identify and pursue the resolution of contractual issues, controls documentation and interactions with customer and contractors at site.
- Take the initiative on site in regards progress monitoring against schedule and schedule revisions, for HZI and subcontract scopes.
- Maintains accounts and cost to complete for site packages
- Confirms site contractors’ compliance with insurance and securities provisions
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of claims, risks, and opportunities on site (in PIRS, Capri systems). Prepare timely commercial notifications, with required documentation, time impact analyses, and cost. Ensures that necessary contractual correspondence is put in place to protect HZI's contractual position
- Advise on claims for subcontract packages, in coordination with relevant work package holder and procurement and technical staff. Support formal dispute activities but at all times pursue out of court dispute management and settlement.
- Support project site procurement including project specific orders and purchasing conditions as required, in accordance with the contract and applicable legislation.
- Manage site aspects and establish documentation for insurance claims and recoveries.
- Liaise with project functions (including engineering, finance and controlling, scheduling, quality, EHS, site management) to drive identification and management of project risks and opportunities at site, and proactively participate in the implementation of risk reduction measures.
- Participate in regular and necessary commercial meetings with contractors and suppliers, verifies respective minutes of meeting.
- Ensures correct administration of payments, withholdings, retentions in accordance with contract and legislation, and issues respective documents correctly and in time.
- Review budgets and cost to complete for all site contractors together.
Your experiences
Professional Qualifications
- Qualified QS, full RICS
- Scheduling proficiency and forensic schedule review an advantage.
- Experience in construction of industrial plant project delivery
- Proficient with standard form and bespoke contracts (NEC / FIDIC)
- Prtical, assertive, diligent, detail and solution orientated
- Long-term experience in comparable function in construction / operation / service of industrial plants
- Profound experience in identifying and managing claims.
- Very good negotiation skills and ability to convincingly carry complex arguments
- Work independently and have foresight to develop methods and procedures to enhance the business’ success, working within and improving company policies and standards
- High quality English drafting of contractual and claim documents.
- In general the individual will demonstrate reliability, high ability to work under pressure, social competency, ability to manage conflict, assertiveness, and will be service oriented.
