Your responsibilities
- Structures, drafts, and negotiates project related agreements in connection with HZI’s products and service offering.
- Provides guidance and collects input from Business Development, Sales, Execution, Treasury, Finance, Legal, Insurance and Tax experts regarding the relevant commercial aspects of the projects to maximize contractual opportunities, minimize risks and support decision making.
- Takes ownership of own transactions.
- Collaborates closely with the company leadership in identifying and evaluating commercial strategies, reviewing, and approving transactions, implementing commercial strategies.
- Evaluates project constraints and provides actionable input in view of company and client’s interests.
- Responsible for assessment and documentation of commercial project risks.
- Communicates effectively with all internal and external interfaces regarding commercial aspects. Proactively pursues the resolution of internal and external commercial challenges.
- Actively develops and participates in commercial awareness training and development of contracting standards of the organization.
- Champions the company’s Compliance and HSE policies.
- Proactively communicates within the group re. major events, risks and chances in the projects.

Job Specific Qualifications
Competence in working methods
- Advanced understanding of the business contracting practices in the relevant industry, including understanding of the forms of contract, e.g. IChemE, NEC, JCT, FIDIC, Operations & Maintenance, Service agreements, Joint Development Agreements.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to convincingly carry complex arguments.
- Advanced contract drafting skills, incl. understanding of contract law principles whether common or civil law.
- Experience in structuring, drafting and negotiating project related agreements on a non-recourse bank financed projects in comparable industry (engineering & construction, power, renewables).
- Ability to work in a multicultural business environment.
- Commercial acumen. Understanding of commercial risks, ability to assess such and propose mitigation solutions, understand impact of financial model on project risk contingencies and associated drafting.
- Problem-solving skills, ability to consider complex interdependent aspects of problems, ability to “think out of the box”.
- Capable of presenting and negotiating at executive level.
- Competence and ability to take decisions and responsibility for own work.
- Project commercial management during execution is an advantage.
- Product process know-how and technical understanding of the power production from waste and biomass, as well as issues arising during the operation of the Energy from Waste, Renewable Gas plants is a plus.
Competence in working methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Second language of distinct advantage e.g.. German. French, Italian.
- Legal degree is of advantage. Advanced understanding of the contractual and commercial risks in contracting, project development, O&M, service and other types of commercial agreements.
- Ability to analyze the constraints of the project, balancing client’s expectations, while protecting the interests of the company. Understanding of project non-recourse risk allocation.
- Strong MS-Office and presentation skills. Advanced ability to work in a structured way within company’s rules, roles, and responsibilities matrices and autonomously.
- Directing and taking ownership of own activities to achieve the goals of the organization.
- Creativity. Pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Ability to build business relationships and to work in multifunctional teams and with external stakeholders.
- Strong HSE focus.
