Senior Legal Counsel

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team based in Zurich. The successful candidate will contribute to defining and implementing the legal strategies of our businesses worldwide. Her/his responsibilities will include forefront legal support on complex international transactions, project execution and dispute management as well as compliance leadership.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the company businesses’ leadership in identifying and evaluating legal risks, reviewing and approving transactions and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Structure, negotiate and document international and domestic agreements with customers, partners and sponsors, financing institutions, contractors and suppliers in connection with the company’s projects and products
  • Identify and provide solution-oriented counsel on a variety of legal issues related such transactions and the operations, internal processes and compliance of the company
  • Drive best commercial legal practices across the company’s businesses
  • Monitor company’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Drive dispute management and resolution across various jurisdictions
  • Champion the company’s compliance program and provide support to Compliance, including advice, investigations and process improvement
  • Deliver training on legal, contract and compliance matters for commercial and other personnel
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant industries in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the company and differentiate it from competition

Your experiences

  • Master of Laws from a University accredited in the EU or USA or Switzerland
  • Bar admission in one or more jurisdictions in the EU or USA or in Switzerland
  • 6+ years’ professional experience in relevant fields acquired at international law firms and in-house legal departments of international corporations
  • Demonstrable experience in:
  • drafting and negotiation of complex contracts including turnkey project development, teaming, concession, long-term operation of plants, project finance and shareholders agreements,
  • high level interaction and negotiation with public and private contracting entities, business partners, financing institutions,
  • dispute management and resolution in various jurisdictions, including prosecution and defence of claims in project tendering and executionin the clean technologies or power or engineering & construction industry
  • Ability to convince and obtain the agreement of others in a multicultural environment
  • Fluency in English; fluency in German or other languages will be a plus
  • Problem solving, creative attitude
  • Ability to travel on short notice
