Your responsibilities

  • To optimize the combustion and boiler parts (potentially with aspects of steam cycle and flue gas treatment) of EfW plants taking both OPEX and CAPEX aspects into consideration
  • Execution of own projects, e.g. incremental and breakthrough technology developments, analysis of technological solutions, identification of weak spots and opportunities, propose alternatives and quantitatively estimate the benefit or trade-off of each aspect
  • Draw consequences of design changes on costs, performance and guarantee
    Modeling as required, e.g. elaboration of mathematical modelling of cleaning devices for heat exchangers
  • All aspects of R&D project management
  • Coaching of R&D colleagues and collaboration
  • Technical supervision and guidance of R&D project managers

Your experiences

  • Senior engineer or engineering consultant with several years of experience in executing complex, multidisciplinary development projects
  • Engineering degree (MSc or dissertation in chemical engineering or thermodynamics)
  • Control and transient system behavior, System Design
  • Fluid Dynamics understanding (reading and interpreting of CFD results)
  • Mathematical modelling (Matlab, Simulink, Python) and general programming
    Solid Phase combustion
  • Flexible, adaptable and interactive at all levels (senior management to technicians)
  • Ability to translate strategic management inputs into actionable technology projects
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written): Ability to autonomously deliver a technical report with clear technology and strategy recommendations a must
  • Taste for hands on work (pursue projects by yourself or in small teams)
  • English a must, German and Japanese a plus
